Meg is the Member of Parliament for Hackney South and Shoreditch and Chair of the Public Accounts Committee.
First elected in 2005, Meg has been a junior Home Office Minister and Shadow Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change.
In 2015, Meg was elected by MPs from across both sides of the House of Commons to Chair the Public Accounts Committee. The cross-party committee scrutinises the value for money of public spending and holds the government to account for the delivery of public services.
Meg served on The Speaker of the House of Commons’ Digital Democracy Commission. Set up by the Speaker, the Commission investigated the opportunities digital technology can bring for parliamentary democracy in the UK.
